Hey, I was in Calgary for pride and saw this special pride drag event at Dickens pub. Dominique Jackson's Doll Haus Competition.
Dominique Jackson is a renowned trans performer who acted as the judge. Similar to RuPaul.
The place was packed and the show was ok, A little too much politics has entered the realm of drag shows.
I can't say anyone in the show was attractive to me but drag queens come in all types. Often you can find some attractive passable queens at these shows.
This show was $35 in advance and $40 at the door. A little pricey for the event but good to support local places like this.
I've been to Dickens a couple times in the past and thought it was mainly a sports bar with bands. Now it seems to be more gay with weekly Drag shows on Tuesdays and Drag Bingo along with other more lgbtq events. It seemed smaller but part was curtained off for the performers. Being pride it was a very gay crowd, however there was a number of tgirls there. There was a couple that were attractive and one even appeared to have boobs.
So Dickens could be a good place for a visit if you are looking in Calgary or want a trans friendly bar.
Many nights it appears they have punk/alternative type bands.
